Gayle Joliet

Creating artwork has been a lifelong passion for me. As an elementary
school teacher, art was always my favorite subject to teach, but I never
made time to pursue it until after my retirement in 2007. Since then I’ve
had the privilege of being mentored by wonderful instructors at the Susi Q,
especially John Eagle, Victoria Templeton and Carole Zavala. It was, in
great part, due to their expert teaching and encouragement that I
developed the confidence to exhibit numerous times at Gallery Q as well
as to co-author and illustrate a children’s book. Alani and the Giant Kelp
Elf, a story connecting the South Laguna Community Garden Park to the
Laguna Bluebelt, was published by Laguna Wilderness Press in December
of 2019.
