My passion is to photograph underwater tide pool and reef scenes along the Laguna Beach shoreline and around the world. My photography captures the natural colors that glisten off of the plants and animals that thrive in these local tide pools. With a keen eye for light and life in these pools and reefs, my images display this underwater world to all mankind.
“My mission in life is to protect our tide pool inhabitants and their pristine ocean homes. I can help accomplish this by exposing their magical world to people close to and far from a universe unseen by most.”
A 35 year Laguna Beach resident and raised in Newport Beach, I have spent most of my life in and on the water as a competitive and global sailor, licensed yacht captain, open water swimmer, wave rider, beachcomber and photographer. For the universe to allow me to combine my love for all things ocean and photography is a dream come true. I am a self-taught photographer and have participated in the Laguna Beach Sawdust Art Festival for the past 7 years. I will be there this summer and would love to see you.
Please note that Photoshop is not used in my photography. Most all of my work is pre-production using tide charts, weather maps, surf reports, sun angle and camera settings. All images are taken in the Marine Protected Areas of the shallow tide pools and reefs along the coast from Laguna Beach to Corona del Mar, the Sea of Cortez, Belize, French Polynesia and the Caribbean.
